The Smarty-Pants Come in All Sizes Around Here

Found this Post-It on the wall of my office a week or two ago, a note from my eight-year-old daughter:

  1. She’s already reading shakespeare. Maybe she should skip a few grades, we just started Hamlet in English today.

  2. Do you need to know your times tables to get into calculus? If so, then there’s a problem, as she has a habit of melting down into screaming fits when we ask her to practice them. Sorry.

    Maybe Liam could help.

  3. sounds like my daughter. math used her up and spit her out. the taste must have been familiar, as math did the same to me two decades ago…

  4. It’s not math so much as being asked to do some challenging work. If she doesn’t know exactly how to do it, its Vesuvius time. I’m trusting that she won’t develop a math phobia until at least 6th grade.
